My second attempt at a mto, I wanted to do something different. I seem to go through phases and at the moment it's green. I would've said at one point the prospect of a green boot would've made me sick. How thing's change. I wanted to try a veg tan leather and the maker of this boot Jakksrabbit had the oliva pueblo, I thought it had such an interesting look. Beyond that had wanted to try an unstructured toe which you can't see to prominently on this boot but strike's good balance. As well a double midsole (not sure that I would do that again). I feel that these boots changed quite quickly but 'stagnated' in terms of their patina over past 3 month's. Though I feel that having tried to clean my boots after a dusty hike was ill advised. The leather is quite porous and dry to touch so slurped up the water and darkened far more than would've liked. The last for this one looks nice and wide though in future would take it slightly wider. Between mixing and matching my boots I'd developed plantar fasciitis which had made the thunderdome a literal one for my feet at times. But after installing some arch cookie's I saw some relief. Heels wore more quickly than I expected to which I tried to put some toe taps....on the outside of heel to help keep it even, helped to some effect. But they would wear out in a month. I might even consider installing a proper plate on the outside heel though that would make me wary that I would slip in clinic. I don't really know what else to reflect on, it's hard to articulate the journey. Though no doubt like most I got a lot of blank stares and 'what?' when I would them that I'm participating in a patina competition. Overall it's been fun and something different. This will definitely prove to be a good resource for future mto's. Many thanks to everyone and have a lovely one.
