The wait Norways constitution day is may 17, and as a child, one of the years big highlights was the clothing: I always got new clothes and shoes for the celebration. And no matter how much I wanted to, I had to wait until the 17th before I got to wear them. - Oh, the wait! The memory of waiting on stuff like that was long gone for me, but woke back to life this past summer. I bought my dome-pair in reasonable time before the dome opened since I didn’t know how long the shipping time would be and definitely didn’t want to miss the start of the thunderdome. This was my first pair of engineers, and was really excited. The Lofgrens ended up staying on the boot shelf for almost three months(!!) I tried them on, took photos, felt them and smelled them. And waited. The wait! The smell of fresh chromexcel filled the bedroom where I keep my boots, and made it ever so apparent that the boots were there waiting on me. And vice versa. The journey I had envisioned a dramatic change during the thunderdome. The natural chromexcel ended up being a slow burner, and what I expected to be a gluttonous patina aged much more gracefully than I first had thought. I treat my boots nice. -I mean I wear them, and try not to baby them to much, but I’m also planning on wearing them in my rotation for the next 20+ years. Maby my perspective changed from expecting a fierce patination, to appreciating the more subtle and graceful aging the boots got. I guess this reflects the way I am, so maby it makes sense, I guess Over the thunderdome I seriously got to know the boots. I finally nailed the fit once I managed to tighten the strap (not strop) on the most inner hole (4 months in). Before that I had more of a loose fit, which was ok, but not after feeling how the boots could sit on my foot. I did lots of brushing, and conditioned them every month. Well, maby I am babying them… Thank you for the thunderdome vol two! Looking forward for the third!
