Horween Dark Brown Waxed Flesh
With a pair of boots that I trust on my feet, I don't worry about a thing. These are those boots. Every single time I clean these up for picture day, I'm amazed. The waxed flesh has proven to be the most hearty leather I've had in boots, and they get dark and shiny and pretty all over again each time. I've worked in these almost every day since we began the dome, and I really feel like they're just getting started. Which is true. I can tell they will live a long adventurous life and I'll keep you all updated in another six months and maybe another six years. Now, I'll first share a story of some anxiety regarding these boots early on. After about a month or so, a nail protruding up through the middle of the left boot became more and more apparent. I reached out to Nicks for advice about how to repair it myself, which they gave and also offered to build me a new pair. I was glad to know that they would stand behind them. But the dome..what was I to do? I managed to get in there and wrest out most of the nail and hoped it would work out OK. You can feel it with a hand if you're looking for it now but it doesn't get caught and has never been noticeable by foot again. And otherwise the boots are great and the toughest built boots I've owned. And they've only gotten more comfortable. So over this past six months, I've gotten roped into running a construction job more than I had in the past. I've got to say discussing plans with architects just doesn't give the same patina as slinging lumber. Now I still get to be out there building stuff, but largely in my woodshop. My other favorite uses of boots are tromping in the woods and getting dirty in the garden which is only ramping up now. And we had one of the mildest winters I can recall here in western PA, so a bizarre lack of snow encounters in these. So, like i said, just getting started. No plans to wear anything else. It feels truly satisfying to put them on and know that they are ready for whatever I get into.
