For some strange reason I picked a shoe to wear during a winter competition, in a city that usually gets lots of snow. Luckily for me, they proved to be fantastic in the snow and ice despite only going up to the ankle. The soles on these are very grippy so I was able to earn some patina from taking my dog in walks in the snow without fear of slipping all over the place. After all, tyrolean shoes were meant to be worn in the mountains so they should be able to deal with winter weather. My only domegrets are starting as a late entry and picking a darker leather (as lighter, natural coloured leathers show more obvious changes) but I feel like they have a nice, subtle patina that I can build on this summer. They'll look amazing after another 5-7 months. It was a fantastic experience being able to document my progress with all of the other fine domers over the winter. I was initially unsure about this shoe style but I can now say that they really grew on me. Since they are pretty rare around here I feel like if someone is wearing them, they must be making a deliberate fashion choice which means the wearer MUST know what they are doing, right? Right? Thank you for the opportunity and I look forward to next year!
