Red Wing 6-Inch Classic Moc

S.B. Foot Oro Legacy

I entered the Patina Thunderdome a young boy knowing very little about boots and caring for them, and feel that I have left a man more knowledgeable about all things leathery and well-aged. These factory second Redwings were a big purchase for me being a college student. I can confidently say they were one of my best purchases however; top three even. Right up there with my headphones and my toaster. They accompanied me on my day-to-day life of the graveyard shift at the warehouse 6 days a week. Followed by going to school to further my educational prowess once the sun was up. Then finishing the day taking a good rest on the shoe rack after a good brushing. It was the seventh snowiest year ever in Minnesota this year, and my boots held up great! They kept my feet dry and were surprisingly grippy on ice. I gave them a good brushing every other day, and conditioned them thrice during the dome. Due to the nature of my work in a warehouse, they get pretty caked with stubborn dust that doesn’t brush off no matter how much elbow grease you put into it. There is also a lot of friction from cardboard to conveyor belts giving good wear to my boots. The conditioning was my favorite part as I got to unveil all the patina that was hiding under layers of dust. I also just really like the feel of dipping my fingers into the oil and finger painting my boots; brings me back to simpler times. I personally think these boots look awesome. I’m biased of course, but I can’t help but be proud of the work I put into these bad boys. And everyone else should be proud of their boots too! Overall this was an great experience, everyone was super kind and the app made everything very convenient. It was so cool seeing all the different kinds of boots everyone was sporting. I definitely hope to participate in another dome in the future, maybe in the open dome once I’m graduated from college! Thank you to everyone for making this possible, it’s been a blast!
