Maryam Natural Horsebutt
My first Thunderdome has been a great ride. My first day for wearing my boots started in a cabin I had rented in Virginia not far from Division Road's new headquarters...what a beautiful place, if you haven't been to the new DR location, you owe it to yourself to go. I got to meet several guys from Stitchdown along with the White's Boots president and some of his staff and get fitted for my MTO collaboration boot with DR. Plus, I was able to grab a Dehen overshirt while they were there as well. Really was a great experience. The Cordmaster boots from Sagara I've been wearing have been incredible boots. The Maryam natural horsebutt leather has aged so beautifully, I really appreciate the feature in the Patina app where you can compare two different pics, this really allows you to see the transformation your boots have gone through. This leather has proved to be tough as hell, but also tough to patina in my opinion. Now granted I haven't put my boots through torturous events, but they've seen their fair share of office chair beatings along with work outside in the elements. I manage a group of guys in the medical field that deliver oxygen and medical supplies to nursing homes and I split about 50/50 of my time a week in the office and out in the field working. I'd say I've worn my boots about four days a week, sometimes more. The patina started very quickly in these boots and then gradually seemed to slow down, almost like they got used to the amount of use I was giving them. I'd say some good hikes etc... may have bumped the patina potential in them a little more, but I didn't want to overly abuse my boots, I wanted the wear to realistically reflect my everyday use of the boots. They are incredible boots, made very well and I'm looking forward to how they will age. I really want to thank Ben at Stitchdown for starting this crazy thing along with all the people behind the scenes, including the judges. I've truly enjoyed myself and getting to know some great people.
