I originally chose this pair of boots mostly for their leather. The dark coffee brown finish over the light blonde Essex leather was sure to yield a high contrasting tea core patina. The leather being a vegetable tanned calfskin was also a favorable trait I was interested in seeing its developments. These boots being my weekend and after work pair of boots, I initially expected them to not get too beat up. But that wasn't so much the case as I found myself doing laborous chores and some heavy duty tasks in these Wolverines. They didn't flinch a bit. Through these activities I was able to beautifully scuff the toes and achieve that highly desired tea core patina. I also did a significantly large amount of walking in them, developing some real nice tight grain pop. Now that the thunderdome is over these boots are just getting started. I like these boots much more now than when I first received them back in October. They have broken in very well and feel like molded slippers. All in all, I think it was a success.
