I wore these boots nearly every day for the 6 months of the dome. They've spent most of that time in Washington state in wet conditions. They've been to Oregon and California as well. They have been with me for over 30 days of dog sitting and help me dig a grave for my cat. Most of the wear has been in the city but they've seen a couple nature walks as well.
The Waxy Commander Leather has been soft and subtle since day one. They are fully leather lined which has maintained the structure well. I've done very little to care for these boots. I wiped them with a damp rag when muddy and brushed twice with a nylon boot brush. Despite frequent wet days the waxed leather has always kept my feet dry.
I wish i would have got these in my brannock size, as they are slightly too small. I made them work, but that required taking the leather insole liner and cutting the gusset about an inch. There is a fair amount of room in the toe box, but the overall volume is less than ideal for my foot shape.
I am a fan of Truman boots and find them well constructed and finished. These boots were factory seconds and there are some expected issues in terms of stitching and finish.
This is my first experience with the Eugene outsole and the soles are already worn smooth at the ball. I slipped while walking downhill on wet asphalt the other day. In the future I will stay away from the Eugene sole.
