More about this item

This has been my first thunderdome I've been able to complete due to sizing issues. I have enjoyed the aspect of really limiting what footwear I'm going to wear each day and just simplifying my choices each day. These initially were causing me some pretty intense pain in my left arch and I asked Nick's about it in both the discord and through email but never heard back. After some measuring I found the arch in the left boot was placed slightly further forward than the left. I ended up flipping the left boot upside down and ramming the arch with the end of a broom stick. After a few treatments of that and some more wear I got the boots to be comfortable. From there they didn't change much looks wise until wearing them a few times in the rain and the snow. Overall a struggle to get them to behave but they are now trusted companions.

Why I own this

Style
Other

I've always enjoyed engineer boots and wanted a roughout pair. Originally I was after some Wesco x Ship John boots but after lots of discussion I didn't think they would fit my wide feet and there was not return or exchange possibility with Wesco. I knew my 55 last sizing with Whites so used that same information to order something similar from Nick's.

Compared to Other Lasts

I measured my feet with both the White's and Nick's sizing guides for the 55 last and knew my sizing already with White's. My brannock is also an 8E close to an 8EE.

Color Change

Initially it didn't matter what I did the leather didn't show really any wear at all other than the one dark mark on the toe from where my dog licked them. The leather was soft and easy to break in and I only brushed them with a horse hair brush. Before final pictures I put a bit of pecards on the edges of the soles.
