More about this item

Purchased from “Discounted Items” section of Wesco’s website. The left vamp is pretty wrinkly, and the inside left shaft has some irregular leather (gouges/deep striations). No pull strap. Otherwise, they’re pretty clean. Looking forward to wearing the heck outta these boots!

Why I own this

Style

Always wanted to try engineer boots! Love the style and wanted to see if I could pull them off on a daily basis. I’d say they’re quite handsome, comfortable enough, and have held up amazingly in the snowy, salty, Canadian winter

How I sized

Online Guide
Brannock Measurements

Took a chance based off S&S recommendations and /r/GYW’s last sizing guides. Used my own Brannock measurements and experience with other common lasts.

Online Store

Ordered from Wesco’s discounted section. Got them for a pretty good price and they came super quick. Duties were a bit more than I’d hoped/expected - I’ll avoid UPS in the future for sure. USPS is always cheaper, if not free from fees altogether!

Snow

Done a lot of walking, a bit of cycling(!) and also a good deal of sitting and rubbing against chair legs 🙃 Really enjoyed the few gentle hikes I took in the fall wearing these boots. The heel height made the inclines feel more manageable. The height of the shaft was great in the few monster snow dumps we got this year.

Break-In

One boot came pretty wrinkled from the get, the other broke in marvellously. I call them my Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Horsehide boots. Love the teacore, but much of the progress I saw was backtracked once I conditioned them.

Final thoughts

Would Recommend
Good Value

When the boots first arrived, they were missing an insole and had some small finishing nails sticking out of the sole bed. I actually cut my finger when reaching in the first time to see what they were. Glad I didn’t jam my foot down there first thing! I reached out to Wesco about it and immediately got a response from Chris - super apologetic and willing to have me ship them back to the factory to fix them himself. I was glad to punch the nails down myself, but he sent me a new insole and some complementary conditioner that arrived in 48 hrs from my original email. Some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced - definitely made me a repeat customer as I’ve now got my 2nd pair of Wescos on order (about 5 months in 🤪). Huge thanks to Chris Warren and the crew in Scappoose!
