Used for hunting in the Colorado Rockies and every day wear. Went on a few hikes with only getting blisters on the first one during break in.

Leather

Care Routine
Break-In
Color Change
Patina Process

There was a small amount of break-in, but after one good hike they were good to go. Brushed regularly and treated a few times with various brands mainly to help with water resistance during winter. The color did tend to lighten up but after treatments would go back to its darker color. I feel like for as soft as this leather gets it holds up well and was actually pretty hard to get any kind of creasing. Rolled in the ankles well though. Overall surprised at how tough the leather is.

Fit

Russell 40 Last: 7.5E
Ball Feels Right
Toes Too Roomy
Too Little Volume
Not Satisfied with the Fit

This is the one area that I wasn't 100% satisfied with. I ended up having to go with a half size larger than I think I needed in length, because even with it being wide, it still felt too tight. This very well could be because of the moccasin construction, but I feel like it could have been a little wider.

Craftsmanship

Russell Moccasin Co. Weathered Oak Backcountry

You can tell it's hand made and I don't mean that in a negative way! It's obvious that the people at Russell take pride in their work. I couldn't ask for a more unique and well made boot.

Sole & heel

Definitely don't have to worry about a re-sole for awhile with the Vibram 1136. I can barely tell that I've been walking in these boots for six months. Traction is ok.

Final thoughts

Good Value

If you're looking for a new pair of boots to go hunt, camp , hike, ECT, you wouldn't go wrong starting here.
