Regular wear
Stretched and rolled like no other leather I’ve ever felt. So soft in fact, it feels like thick glove leather. The leather has sumi incorporated in it by the maker which makes for the most beautiful and interesting aging I have ever seen on a pair of boots. Lightening in some areas, darkening in some. Flex points seen to have a decent amount of pull up. Lightening, the vamp/shell area in particular displacing oils and looking like a fiery sunrise. This is also the most breathable comfortable horsebutt I have ever felt, so much so its hard to believe it is actually horsebutt.
These boots come with a proprietary insole that is extremely comfortable and molds to the sole of your foot very nicely. I have extremely high volume feet around the ball area, which makes them very difficult to size. The boots were initially tight, but the maker has been extremely helpful and communicative about these issues and is working on a solution to make sure I am completely happy with the boots and that they fit perfectly going forward.
Overall great craftsmanship, incredible leather finishing. The attention to the leather is like no other maker I’ve seen. The clicking is incredible as you can see from the grain and pattern on the vamps. Boots are solid without being heavy. These will last for years before a resole is needed.
The sole felt solid and has had very little noticeable wear after 6 months.
The leather in these boots and the natural sumi dye finishing is some of the most beautiful and definitely the most supple horsebutt I’ve ever seen. I have seen no other makers paying this type of attention to detail in terms of finishing, leather dying (they even sumi dyed the laces!!), communication, customer service/satisfaction, and overall packaging/experience. Every step of dealing with Rowdy and his crew felt like they had the utmost care for the product and myself. the boots came with a rad looking box with their custom branding, handwritten tags attached, beautiful certificates with all the specs of my order, and a handwritten note explaining the process and what to expect with the leather aging experience with its incorporation of the labor intensive process of impregnating the Guidi hb with sumi dye. Crux is definitely far beyond what I could expect and what I’ve gotten from other makers. One of a kind experience and boots. The value you get from all this and the most beautiful leather I’ve ever seen is insane, especially considering most boots that are in a somewhat similar level of finishing and quality are around triple the price.
