The width of the shoe is perfect. Fits slightly large at the ankle. It's my first pair of leather shoes, I usually walk in barefoot shoes.
Grant Stone
My surname is Stragapede, it has very ancient origins and for some it means "stratopedon" (which comes from the Greek: battle camp), but since I was little I have tried to observe my feet (Stagapede also means "particular foot") to understand how they work. I have been using only Barefoot shoes for more than 12 years because I have a very wide feet compared to the volume. This is a big challenge for me. I want try to be able to use elegant, well-made and leather shoes. Furthermore, I would like to be able to transfer all my experiences and my character into an educational patina.
I'm a bit stubborn, I got help from customer service but then I made the choice. One size smaller and EEE wider.
It wasn't easy, these are shoes with customs duties and if they arrive and they don't fit well, you have to find your own solution.
I have used these shoes in various territories. From the wooded and rocky areas of Sardinia, with dust, sea, sand and mud, to the mountains of Trentino where there were heavy snowfalls and temperatures even at minus 15. I tend not to use heavy socks and I still found them good in both area. I have also used them to work both in the evening at the reception of a restaurant, and as a shiatsu masseur in various hotels in Trentino, and for pleasure trips in the city. The best use, however, was to visit many lost archaeological sites in Sardinia where the shoes, like me, were imbued with incredible energy.
So this leather is very special. I will start by saying that I have never had shoes made with good leather. It was very difficult to find products that were absorbed well without releasing oil on the surface. This leather has a very smooth grain and tends to lose its natural vegetal color. The best product I found is a plant that is in Sardinia but I could no longer get because I moved in trentino. I used this plant fresh, by squeezing it on the shoes and making sure that its natural oil was absorbed. It gave incredible shine and perfume. Unfortunately I used a Jim Green macadamia oil conditioner that completely ruined them. Fortunately the frozen snow scraped all the leather of the shoes, bringing them back to a natural color state, after which I simply used a neutral vegetal oil sold by Vivo Barefoot that I had at home for years. I have never conditioned them with polishes or special creams, perhaps now they would be much shinier. The leather of the shoes has never been too stiff and with use the sole is completely adapted to every roughness of the terrain, since with these shoes I jump run etc... the color has lost the dark green tone to become a chocolate brown, leaving out the characteristic spots of kangaroo leather. there have been scratches even deep and small parts have lifted but this leather has the ability to return shiny with little, just a good brushing with a cotton cloth. That s Incas jungle kangaroo!! I found the shoes to be very breathable.
The fit is good, I have a very wide foot and I had to buy a pair of shoes a generous size larger so as not to suffer between the thumb and little toe. this however meant that the volume was too much. I solved it by inserting a felt insole for the winter. it is pleasant to feel that the heel is tightened in the shoe however, being used to walking barefoot, I find the heel annoying on the muscles of the legs of the calves. The arch support is practically non-existent, and I like that.
I am very satisfied, the quality is high, They opened on the tip, breaking the seams, maybe I used them too much. I only have one comment, I feel different the left shoe that in my opinion has positioned the staggered steel shank. It's also really cool to see how thin the kangaroo leather can become and join the inner lining. On the other hand, as far as the sole is concerned, I found it too hard. It would be nice if even on a model like this, some lines were created to increase grip on slippery terrain.
As I was saying the sole is too hard especially with the fact that it is raised on the heel makes it difficult to approach on different types of terrain. our foot has the characteristic of being flat, it does not have a heel. if we raise the rear we create less traction consequently the sole especially on the heel should be different to create more friction. I apologize but I am very conscious of my feet.
I have never tried shoes that had this type of mechanism. It is really comfortable. I think I will not be able to do without it, in fact in the next pair, i would have give even more!
I have been using shoes that simulate walking barefoot for many years, even though I loved walking barefoot everywhere. For me buying this pair of shoes was a great challenge (price also) because I realized how modern shoes affect the psychosensory perception that we have of our body. in these months I have understood all the advantages and disadvantages of shoes and how they should be to be truly usable and comfortable. Not everyone loves the Barefoot sensation or the Barefoot look, but we cannot deny that we are born with bare feet, so it would be wonderful to be able to experiment with a pair of well-made Barefoot boots. as I said in some posts there are two revolutions underway. The first is the return to a more natural life and consequently also to natural shoes that give a sense of freedom. the second revolution is that of understanding who we are inside, not only in a scientific way but also in a true sensoriality way. Sardinia and these shoes are what I bring to the world as a revolution. Don't think I'm crazy, I studied high school science, biology at university, then I studied Chinese medicine for 5 years and in the fact, massages to more than 1000 people. I am very humble and I understood what the human species is looking for, today. I also wanted to thank you for this beautiful competition because it put me in front of my defects and my merits and made me know myself even more. i would recommend grant stone. excellent quality of materials, great care in production and good energetic quality of the company. Only one thing missing, 🍀😌
