Use & wear

Office Work
Outdoor Activities
Leisure

These were my everyday casual boots. They didn’t see anything extreme, just office work and weekend activities.

Leather

Horween Natural Chromexcel Roughout

Super comfortable and soft leather. I love how much they darkened even with just minimal wear

Fit

Elston Last: 13D
Length Feels Right
Volume Feels Right
Ball Feels Right
Satisfied with the Fit

The Elston last is by far my best fitting last. I love the room in the toe box. I have pizza shaped feet (toes are the widest part) and this last worked great.

Craftsmanship

Oak Street Bootmakers Trench Boot

No issues at all with the craftsmanship. I didn’t push these boots hard at all, but I think they could definitely take some abuse.

Sole & heel

Here’s wear I didn’t love these boots. I think the combination of the thin midsole and very hard Dainite heel made the heel area of these boots quite uncomfortable after a long day. Zero shock absorption in the heel. Not great to walk or stand in for more than a few hours

Final thoughts

I love the last and the leather, but I found the heel of these boots uncomfortable. Very hard underfoot only in the heel area. On days where I had to stand or walk a lot, I avoided these boots so they did not get as much wear as I hoped. I also had issues with the sock liner / heel pad. The transition between the sock liner and the insole created a hard pressure point on my foot that never really went away. I’m thinking of getting these resoled with a thicker midsole and softer sole to help the comfort. The roomy toe box of the Elston last is these boot’s saving grace
