Use & wear

Office Work
Physical Work

I bought these for a new pair of outdoor field work boots but this year most of my field work was inside occupied buildings or in the office. They would have been great last year when I spent most of the winter outside on a hilly, wet demolition site.

Leather

Patina Process
Care Routine
Color Change

The leather is really thick so initial break in took a bit. I put in almost 700 hours of wear, so they are quite comfortable now. Regular brushing and cleaning/conditioning about every 2 month with Smiths. The leather has developed some patination: rolls on the ankles and toes and some ripples, with crocking from my jeans on the rolls. The leather has darkened somewhat, but not as dramatically as natural veg tan.

Fit

Satisfied with the Fit

The sizing seems spot on for me. Initially the right toe box was too tight due to my bunion, but it loosened up with wear. I also wear a slightly thinner sock on my left foot which helps. The left one fit and felt great from the start.

Sole & heel

Durability
Traction

Great traction outside on uneven surfaces. They have been hiking a few times and on construction sites with dirt and holes. Inside they are too hard. Deep lugs so be prepared to pull rocks and mud out at the end of the day. Very durable. Little signs of wear so far.

Final thoughts

Good Value

I think they are a good value for a work boot that will last a long time.
