I found my work boots. I will probably stitch straps on my old boots while I get a resole.

More about this item

Purchased for the 2023 thunderdome but showed up really late so I put them away for the next thunderdome.

Use & wear

I probably wore my boots 95% of the time. I wore them mostly to work. I found myself using them on sundays while i was just relaxing in my garage or grilling. My environments at work vary a lot. I build new houses in Texas. The terrain can be very steep, rocky, muddy, sand, trash, brick, flat concrete and nails. One of the features that i like the most is that i can step on 2x4s with nails and they dont puncture my feet. The nails just bend. Since I have worn knicks i have never had a nail on my feet.

Leather

The break in process was surprisingly easy. I had a bad idea in my head about veg tan leathers. Youtubers claimed the leather was so hard and stiff and that it changed color as soon as you take them out of the box. They did change color but after months of wear. I wore them in 100° heat and also in -2° snow. I only cleaned them up once a month. I did dry them everyday in a boot dryer. The color change was not as drastic as some youtubers claimed. On my first month I accidentaly spilled green leather dye on a boot and by month 6 it was completely gone.

Satisfied with the Fit

The fit was great. The 67 last feels better than the 55. It feels snug but you have room in your toes. I could probably had gone down to a B or C.

Craftsmanship

The design is great. Its like a builder pro but way easier to put on. Easier to break in due to the straps. The straps distribute the grip.

Sole & heel

The 430 has held up really good. As good as the lugged version. Easier to wear in the winter because it doest leave chuncks of mud behind.

Final thoughts

I feel like i have found my boot for life. I bought them for the last patina competition, but they showed up really late. They were in my basement for months. I bought them just as a novelty item because i already had 10+ nicks. I had to pick something different to justify another boot purchase. The straps really work for me. Way easier than laces And more comfortable.
