Frank's Boots
Ranier
55 Last
US Men's Brannock: 11E
55 Last: 10E
They fit well out of the box. I got the same size as my Patriots and it is bang on.
eBay
I bought them because I love my Patriots. I wanted another boot on the 55 last. I'm on my feet all day on concrete, and the wedge sole makes sense. I live how they look.
I called Frank's to confirm the size would be the same as my Patriots since the last was the same. They said yes.
Ebay. No problems.
I have mainly worn them around work on concrete floors and around town doing errands. I wore them to the shooting range, which was nice. It was good to have a solid footing while shooting. My job requires heavy lifting and lots of steps on concrete. The 2021 wedge sole seemed a bit hard at first, but I'm liking it more and more. The extra squish versus my Patriots is nice.
The leather looks almost brand new still. The break-in wasn't too bad. I'm still breaking them in, actually. The heel counter is still a bit stiff when going up hills. The tongue has broken in easily. I brush them every night. These things are tanks.
The 55 last is a dream. I knew coming from the Patriot that I loved the 55 last. There is a slight feeling of rocking backward because of the lack of heel versus the Patriot. The arch support is second to none. This is a very wearable boot. The toe box is plenty roomy for me. There is some pressure on my right I step at the end of the day, due to that being my wider and higher volume foot. I wear darn tough heavyweight boot socks.
The design of the Ranier is very versatile. It works in the office, warehouse, retail floor, delivery, and any number of work environments. The 55 last on the wedge sole is so unique and welcome. The finishing is on point. A few small gripes but nothing to really single out. These boots are extremely durable. The stitching is very robust.
This sole has been i teresting for me. It's my first wedge sole. I usually gravitate towards lug soles. This came up for a good price, and being on the 55 last, it was a no-brainer. Good traction on concrete flooring. The wedge sole isn't as great in the woods, but not too bad, actually. The squish of the 2021 really is nice.
I highly recommend this boot and this company. They offer the best boots for the money in the PNW space imo.
