A great workhorse boot
Red Wing 953 in Velva BoomerBy mreams99 • April 6, 2025"I wore these Red Wing 953s for just about everything. I wore them to take the dogs outside for long walks, shoveled snow, mowed the lawn, and dug out a few ditches with them. They handled it all.
I had a partial tear of my plantar fascia in December, which cut down a bit on my activity for a while. Then I adopted a dog who insisted on long walks — even in the snow. The first day of wear included their first of several multi-hour hour airplane rides - they even made it unscathed on foot through the precheck security screening. I wore them to business casual meetings. I walked about 4 city miles every day and they loved pavement pounding. I pulled my kiddo through many museums in them. They were great in the rain and decent in the snow - though different soles would be better on ice. They were perfect hiking in the woods. They scrambled well on rocks. They were surprisingly good boots for snowshoeing. I had better than expected ball control kicking around a soccer ball in them.
There were very few occasions where I did not want to wear them. Once on foot, these chonky boys were wonderful. These boots were made for walkin, and that's just what they did...."Read the full review

They are dressy enough to wear to the office with a pair of pants long enough to cover the straps. I've worn them while traveling -- the strap system makes them very easy to take on and off at airports. I've been hiking in these (also while traveling). I wear them on the weekends when hanging out around the house, shopping, or going to shows.
