In 2019 i bought my first barefoot shoes, vivobarefoot RA 2 and primus. I appreciated the toe space, streaching and articulation of the joints and bones in the foot. When hiking i felt more controll and active. I really wanted some of these qualitys in a tall boot. The Alpha m77 I had at the time has a wide toebox and flexible sole, but I could not use them due to some trauma. My father happily took them off my hands. I got some Jim Green Razorbacks and was quite happy with them, though not as tall and they really fit like wide ski boots. Still really stiff to this day. Then I got some lems boulder boots, I love those but not for hiking. When Jim Green released the AR8 i bought them, and with a birkenstock insole this became THE hiking boot for me. The leather is dry and has an odd purple color rather than brown. Good forr longer tougher routes. I still dreamed about a flexible flat sole and soft toe... All this boots down to why I have these African trooper barefootboots, -and I might finaly settle with these.
