US Men's Brannock: 13EE

Work/20 Last: 12EE

My Brannock is 13 Wide, which usually means: “Good luck finding boots that don’t hate you.” But with Truman, things actually make sense. On the 79 last, I’m a 12.5 EE. On the new Work (formerly 20) last, I’m a 12 EE. And the 12 EE fits perfectly — enough room for thicker socks, thinner socks, or even one of those “this definitely won’t make a difference” insoles. Somehow Truman managed to make a boot that fits a wide-foot guy without requiring a prayer circle and a break-in marathon. In short: wide foot approved, zero drama.

More about this item

Size: Whatever brilliance you own Condition: Better than your last “work boots” attempt Vibe: Rugged lumberjack meets café-latte philosopher Meet the Tobacco Snakebite — the leather that somehow looks like it drinks bourbon neat but also pays extra for oat-milk macchiatos. It’s that perfect shade of “I do tough things but I also moisturize.” Leather Tobacco Snakebite is a pull-up-heavy, full-grain beauty with color shifts that look like a mood ring for adults with actual taste. It starts rich brown, then ages into a smoky, caramel-whiskey tone that screams patina aristocrat. Fit & Feel Wide-foot friendly without feeling like you're wearing two boats. Toe box is roomy enough for Morton’s toe drama, but still sleek — not that massive brick vibe you get from Red Wings when they’re trying to cosplay as lifestyle boots. Comfort out of the box, zero drama. Why They’re Awesome Pull-up for days Ages like a fine leather wallet you keep rubbing for no good reason Moc toe shape that looks good with salvage denim, flannels, or your “I’m not trying but actually I am” outfits Perfect for both job-site cosplay AND grabbing a macchiato with too much confidence In Short These are the boots that make strangers ask, “Damn, what are those?” And you’ll answer: “Heritage. But, like… the cool kind.”

Went with the Truman moc toes because they checked every box I actually care about. I needed something I could ride a bike in, run around all day, and not feel like I strapped cinderblocks to my feet. Wedge sole? Check. Real leather? Check. Wide-foot friendly? Finally, check. Truman’s last fits my complicated, wide-foot situation better than anything else I’ve tried. I’ve had Red Wings — great boots, but too bulky for what I want. Grant Stones are sleeker, sure, but the Tobacco Snakebite leather and the overall profile of the Trumans just nailed it for me. In the end, it was the combo: fit + wedge + Snakebite leather + the clean, sleek Truman look.

Compared to Other Lasts

I used my Brannock (13W) as a starting point, but I size by fit, not charts. My feet don’t follow normal rules — I’m 11.5–12 EE in Iron Rangers — so I went with what actually works in each last. On the Work/20 Last, 12 EE is dead-on. It’s a naturally roomier last, so dropping to 12 still gives me all the width and toe room my foot needs. No mods, no stretching, just a solid match between last shape and foot shape. For comparison, the 79 Last fits me best at 12.5 EE — a bit sleeker, still very comfortable, but the 20 Last is the real sweet spot.
