The heel counter was already waxed. I used beeswax for this area only. For the vamp, I went with a coat of mink oil first to condition the leather. Once it was absorbed, I added a coat or black dubbin. I mean to buy "natural" color, but got black by mistake and just went with it. It would get dark anyways.
