Home aboard Coraline after work, taking in the fall sun in the cockpit, Gunner is grumbling at the guys that are crabbing in the fairway.

More about this item

A special thanks to the crew at Jakkrabbits for working with me on this dream come to life design. They went out of their way to see my through my minds eye and even prototyped a build prior to starting the design, working with all of my redirects throughout, like pros. It started on their MTO page with their 7” service boot article on the Hornady last. Non medallion wingtip, custom brogues, rolled edge lace reinforcement panel (new to the design), This is a three color design starting from the bottom, Dr. Sole’s Green Half sole, brown double leather midsole, green and black woven stitch on a brown 270 Veldtschoen welting, Black Chromexcel, wingtip, heel cap, and lace reinforcement, Badalassi Carlo Pueblo Olive for the quarters and vamp, Brown Dublin tongue, Jakkrabbit’s beeswax laces, plus nickel hardware. All three colors of black, brown and green are balanced to create a gentlemen’s jungle boot feel. I asked the guys at Jakkrabbits if we could call this article the “Gunner” because it gives me a military deck gunner vibe from years gone by and bonus, its my dog’s name. Like everything they were all to happy to agree. I’ve been dying for the thunderdome to start so that I could start wearing them, but at the same time they look too amazing to wear.

Why I own this

Custom
Style

This MTO was a first for me in purchasing a boot that wasn’t off an assembly line. I fell into the rabbit hole of boots via Rose Anvil. I was tired of buying a new pair of off the rack boots every 6 to 8 months. I jumped in deep and what I found was that the quality boots that are out there while amazing just didn’t quite match my style. I had come across Jakkrabbits mentions here and there, while the website was a little confusing for a first run, they helped me with everything. I really wanted to take a classic military boot and cross it with a dress boot that I could wear to work and then out afterwards. I had a pair of Vietnam jungle boots that I just could not destroy and really like wingtips without medallions, the Gunner is where I landed. And I got to tell you, these guys did a prototype mock up for me during the design process. Amazing!

How I sized

Foot Tracing

Foot tracing mostly but it occurred to me that while standing with my shoes off and looking down at the shape of toes that I should get a last that has the same toe box.

Customer Service

A little wonky at first but that’s because I didn’t understand the terminology very well at the time, but there was great email support and I was able to send over existing pictures of their articles that I had drawn on in paint to get my thoughts across.
