These were my most worn boot during the dome, but they didn't see daily wear. If I was had a walking destination, a long weekend, a casual work trip or cabin rental, these were on my feet and saw a diversity of wear.
I like this Kudu leather. It's a lot tougher than I imagined it would be. Just about impervious to damage and significant scuffs. I believe it's chrome tanned, which made the evolution a little slow. But it's soft, stretchy and comfortable with little break in. It doesn't burnish too easily, but with brushing it does buff up quite nicely. My favorite part of the leather is the wrinklyness at the flex points. I like how it developed, but I'd accept 300% more wrinkling happily. I brushed these very regularly and treated them with Fiebing’s Atom Wax twice.
I bought these a half size up from my normal Viberg 2030 and they still fit pretty well. This stretchy leather is forgiving
Great Viberg construction, as one would expect. I bought these unworn off of eBay and it's hard to tell the exact Viberg era they are from. Newish, transitional form as far as I can tell. I prefer some of the details more than I do on the newest boots on the website.
Standard Dainite utility. No complaints, thin and hard wearing.
After a cooling off period, these will stay in my rotation. What I dig about them the most is how the forefoot flattened out and stretched so it spreads out over the welt and how the sole edges have deformed upward a bit. I also like how the shaft has deformed a bit at the top, molding around my ankle bone and sagging a little, like a sock. After a wax, the kudo markings and wrinkles pop without looking too rugged, while still being something I can use in a rugged way... A go anywhere, do anything boot.
