More about this item

The third pair of jump boots I made myself. Leather from conceria la bretagna, last by spenle. -360° handwelted -forefoot handstitched -leather soles with rubber inlays, hence the "hybrid commando" (yes i made that up on the spot) -sole and heel mirror shined (at least to some degree) -when finishing the sole i brushed the tip of the right boot with a sole iron and it left a streak. Yeah I screwed up.

Why I own this

Custom
Style
Workplace Needs

I just love jumper boots because I can make them so incredible comfortable using inlays. Also, there are just so many leathers that make them look good. The moment I grab a leather is just a minute away from the decision to turn it into a pair of jumpers. And the veg tan, Italian made pecos raw had everything in that minute. It is robust, ages beautifully and without hesitation yet it still makes for comfy boots despite its toughness.

Ordering process

Lots of work that I love. It hurts but the result makes up for it. The price is only material, for I don't pay myself for my passion.

Use & wear

Leisure
Office Work

Daily activities, mostly work for eight hours a day in shoe retail, riding my bike everywhere I need to go and the on or another walk into the city just to flex them because they are awesome.

Break-In
Durability

The break in IS rough with this leather, but after some places hurt on my feet I can wear them without any consideration for my health. The first part of patina was done by light rainshowers that gave it a sprinkle pattern, but at some point I had to wax them a bit. The leather is basically crust and that is how I pushed them onto the streets Care was simple neutral shoe cream. Not too much, sparingly as not to turn it into a fatty leather.

Sole & heel

The configuration doesn't give a lot of comfort the way I made them, but the inlay provides lots of cushioning. The soles are made for a sleek look. You only see a leather sole, with some rubber studs hidden beneath it like you'd expect from a commando. Heels are vibram tank soles.

Final thoughts

I definitely had a blast going on about my first TD, and having the boots standing on the shelf for half a year wasn't nice.
