My first pair of Engineer Boots!

Why did you choose this item?

Outdoor Activities

I chose engineer boots because my work conditions often require me to use a motorbike, if I have to get caught in the rain during the trip, I don't need to hesitate and can continue to use these engineer boots because they are waterproof and water-resistant when it rains!

How did you determine your size?

Compared to Other Lasts

I use Batu Last size 42 which is slightly modified to fit my foot shape. I don't have to worry about sizing because my feet are directly measured by the owner of Briselblack, Mr. Adi. Mr. Adi is also very easy to consult and work with. So this Batu Last is very comfortable to wear! Compared to Ben-01 Last in my Jodhpur Briselblack, Batu Last is much roomier in the toe area, creating deeper rolls!

I contacted Briselblack Bootmaker (Mr. Adi) and made an appointment for a store visit to Bandung (I live in Jakarta). Mr. Adi is very good at communicating online and offline, making it very easy for customers to order shoes at Briselblack. Doing a store visit allowed me to see a lot of boots made by Briselblack! When my engineer boots were finished, Mr. Adi brought them from Bandung to Jakarta and we met for coffee together and talked a lot about boots!

I wear these boots every day, 7 days a week. 5 work days a week, in all weather conditions, including Jakarta's congested roads and the weather that often changes in one day, and on a motorcycle. My job often requires me to move from one place to another 2 to 3 times, and riding a motorcycle is part of my daily routine.

Color Change

I deliberately chose to use toscanello horsebutt leather overdyed into oxblood color rather than natural horsebutt leather overdyed into oxblood color, because overdyed toscanello horsebutt leather will fade faster and show a contrasting patina compared to the natural color of the overdyed horsebutt. so that within 6 months, the resulting patina will be faster and look beautiful after daily use. The break-in process of horsebutt leather is very enjoyable because Maryam Horsebutt leather is very comfortable and flexible, very breathable and does not make the feet sore, so in daily use it is very enjoyable, also Maryam Horsebutt has a good reputation for its durability, no doubt about it!. I have never done any treatment on these shoes, only wipe them if they get wet in the rain when I get home

Satisfied with the Fit
Toes Too Roomy

Batu last is a shoelast that is quite bulky and wide for my feet, but because these boots are made to measure, the fit feels very perfect, with a voluminous toe so that the combination of unstructured toe + lots of volume in the toe section, creates lots of rolls that are very beautiful to look at.

These engineer boots are my first engineer boots, there is no doubt about the quality of my favorite brand, Briselblack Bootmaker! With a very beautiful shape and excellent clicking quality of leather, it helps me make these shoes have a very beautiful patina. Excellent goodyear welted construction, very neat finishing and very detailed and neat stitching, there are almost no flaws in each of my Briselblack Boots!

The Dr. Sole fullsole that I use is very comfortable and has top notch quality! Sewn without a midsole makes these boots feel comfortable and flexible. The quality of Dr. Sole is also beyond doubt, used in any conditions in Indonesia, and until now the condition is still very good and has never made me slip, even when it rains and the roads are wet! Dr. Sole full cork sole also has a minimalist design and is not too busy with decorations, so it feels luxurious and not too much when seen with the naked eye

The durability of Dr. Sole cork heels is also very good, on par with the full sole! Excellent grip in all conditions and strong resistance, it has been used for almost a month but the condition is still very good
