I wore these without caution to the types of activities I might end up doing — I other words, these are boots and I treat them as such. From going to the store, to working, to just grabbing something to put on my feet, these were great for whatever.
I brushed these maybe weekly or as needed. Conditioning was also as needed but the horsebutt didn’t need very much care or conditioning on the whole. What I really like about this leather is that it’s tough and looks great the more you wear it (great for patina). Break in was relatively easy, but horsebutt does tend to be more stiff than other leathers, so it took a bit longer than other boots I’ve broken in.
This last can be difficult for some people, especially those with high volume or wide feet. Fortunately, I have low volume feet, fairly narrow feet, and a low instep. The only thing I worried about was the arch support and it turned out that this last has fairly good arch support. The toebox looks like it might cause fit problems but I was surprised at how well they fit from day 1.
There are some boots that just feel and look like they are on a higher level that most. These are some of the most well constructed and best looking boots I’ve had. I’d easily buy another pair — they just look so damn good.
Love the half soles of this boot — classic design that is good for all conditions.
Not too soft, not too hard, looks and feels fantastic.
These are legendary for a reason — if you think you want a pair, I recommend it.
