Flexible and thin but strong and durable. It’s just getting started.

This wallet has followed me everywhere. NJ, NY, IL, TX, FL, NH, VT and everywhere in between. It has survived this harsh winter in NJ and has served me well.

Durability

It started as a fairly dark and heavily treated leather will l sorts of contrasting color from day 1. I knew it wouldn’t be as interesting as a natural veg tan but I wanted to use a unicorn leather that few people have seen. Its a reject from Horween that has been redyed by Maverick. I figured very few wallets exist in redyed wrangler horsefront. I have brushed in on rare occasion and mostly have kept it in my back pocket or backpack. It has picked up a bit of crocking and rubbed up against my keys and sundry to form a respectable amount of character.

Stitching

It’s a simple card wallet that is rustic and hardy. I used thick Maine Thread in a classic saddle stitch. It’s a little boyscouty but it’ll last forever. And if it doesn’t, it can be restitched in a jiff.

Final thoughts

Would Recommend

I had a ton of trouble photographing this leather. Sadly, it needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate its character. Its dark, rich and complex. It’s a lovely wallet and hopefully someone asks for one so I can share the leather I have left. Leather making has been a wonderful hobby. With a few tools you can turn leather into all sorts of practical items. Its been a real joy to experiment and problem solve with such a durable material.
