Nicks Handmade Boots
I love learning about stuff that interests me, and boots/footwear do it for me. So I gravitated toward RoseAnvil’s YouTube channel and learned about Nick’s boots (and others) there. I bought my first pair of PNW boots the year before and they were the ND2. I had botched the sizing with the ND2 and decided to give the new last of the ND3 a go with a size I was confident with… I could not have been happier. My feet feel great after wearing the same pair of work boots for six months! I never thought I would say that lol
A lot of thought and experience went into selecting the size for these boots and I think I nailed it. Having had previous experience with the maker and collaborator, via my ND2 pair. I was able to size just about perfectly, although the next pair I may try one size wider just to be certain. As I am a confirmed lifetime PNW boot wearer moving forward. I did utilize multiple sources for my initial sizing “guesstimates”
This particular pair of boots was very limited and I knew were going to sell out fast. The timeline for crafting them and getting them delivered was very tight in order to enter the competition with, if not for the late entry option I would not have been able to participate. I had set an alarm for when they went on sale and had told my boss he could fuck off for an hour during the initial offering period lol. The boots got delivered just in time for the late entry timeframe
I had planned on wearing my boots for the use of snow removal, but mostly wore them while working as a courier for DHL as we only had one major snow event this winter in my area
I am shocked at how well this leather has held up. I’ve only added obenauf’s twice and have not needed to add bear grease/ beeswax at all. Now that the competition is over I will probably add the bear grease/beeswax sometime in the next month or two just to be safe
I will never use anything other than a Thurman style last again. The wide toe is everything when it comes to comfort in a boot you wear all day everyday. I did add an aftermarket pair of leather insoles and on occasion uses a pair of wool insoles when the temperature got low enough
These are PNW boots… you cannot get higher quality. Enough said
This sole looks like it hasn’t even been worn. I’m guessing it has another 18 months before a resole is to be even considered
I’m looking forward to wearing these boots everyday up until the next thunder dome begins… I can assure you I’ll sneak a picture of their progress in with my first action shot of my next thunder dome entry!
