i thought they would complement my M43 JL‘s rough out cxl nicely
i made a plaster cast of my foot but the fit us quite snug… probably too snug for many, so keep that in mind when ordering!

I’ve been wearing the shoes almost every day since the beginning of the dome, except for the one week we had snow, and I’ve averaged over 12k steps a day. Although I switch to Birkenstocks at the studio and trainers for my workouts, I probably average more than 6k steps in them on a daily basis.
The break-in period took around two weeks. I struggled with the tight fit because of my bunion, and the last is probably not ideal for my foot shape. Another aspect that surprised me is how soft the Maryam HB leather is. Although the leather is quite thick, it’s supple but scratches easily, and indentations seem to be permanent. I would prefer if the brown took a little longer to show through, but I do like the overall look of it. I use conditioner every one or two weeks, mainly to get rid of all the scratches, but I’d like to find one that makes the leather less shiny. I would love more rolls on the vamp but I think the 206 last with the unstructured toe would be more suitable for that.
The fit is a little more snug than I’d typically prefer, which is a bit of an issue due to my hallux valgus. The 206 last with the wider toe box would probably be a better fit. Really like how cupped the heel is which leads to zero heel slip.
I am very impressed with Peng’s craftsmanship. The construction and stitching are absolutely impeccable. Love the stitch density and consistency. Zero loose threads. Even looked at from the bottom (sole) the stitching looks perfect. I particularly like the construction at the edge of the quarters where they meet the ankles. It’s super elegant and gives it the perfect amount of stiffness and comfort.
The Sole is solid and seems very durable. Although I’ve been wearing them a lot there’s hardly any signs of wear on them.
The ordering process was quite nerve-wracking. I ordered during the pandemic, and Peng also got injured, but I wish he had communicated better. He often took several months to respond. Since I started using WeChat, the communication has been a lot better, though.
