Mostly, I used the boot as a every day boot in the office or just going out of the house. But I also took them on long walks, mushroom hunting, and further activities that are not so hard on the boot. The longest I had them on my feet at one time were during the IWA 2025 in Nürnberg where I wore them for almost 20 hours straight.

The leather has a very strong finish, which allows it to not get scratches so easily. In the beginning, when I tried to oil them to help the break-in, it was really reluctant to soak the oil up. Now, especially where it creased a lot, the oil gets sucked in immediately. Patina wise, it mostly got a lot of wrinkles. When they started squeaking, I waxed them. During winter, I applied snoseal to help with the water resistance, which worked really well. I feel like they are well broken in now, I have no pressure spots or anything like that anymore. Where the most wrinkled area is they got the darkest.

Satisfied with the Fit

They are comfortable, and I have room above the toes due to the stiffener. I put in a simple felt insole because the leather under foot was too hard for me. In the beginning, I could only wear them with thick socks, but now everything goes. I wear size 42 EU on all my boots, and their sizing works great, and the fit is just how I like it (about 5-10 mm room for my toes).

I'm happy with the design. They are rugged looking but fine enough for me to wear them in the office. I got some compliments at work, so that should confirm it. They are built like tanks with the two leather layers, but when it gets warmer, my feet get a little sweaty, so in the future, I'd only wear them in the colder months. The finish on the leather is a little too strong. I'd prefer it to be a little more open, which would help with the patina development. Stitching and hardware are all in place, so there are no complaints.

I haven't slipped, even on snow, so the grip is great. They are really soft, you can deform them with your fingernail. That makes them more comfortable, but they wear quickly and I can see significant wear which I'm not used to from other shoes (like sneakers).

Good Value

I think Jim Green supports a great cause, and they make quality boots for an affordable price. (Dropping 500€ on a pair of boots is just not possible for me atm) So, as an entry into the hobby of boot collecting or even for people who already have high-quality boots, I think I can recommend them as a do it all boot. I was really happy to have them as my first boots, they opened up the world of boots for me. Thanks for the great competition and all the people involved, I hope to be part of it for the next time too!
