Use & wear

Physical Work
Outdoor Activities

These have been my weekend warrior work boots. I've worn them to build a new shed, in the woodshop, and for outdoor activities like hikes and play with my kids in the snow.

Leather was super stiff to start, but loosened up well. I literally thought there had been a mistake and there was a celastic toe. The leather is pretty well bombproof and taken shots that probably would have cut straight through some of my other boots. The patina is great, the color variation in different lights is fun, and it's had no care other than a damp cloth and brushing. One note... It's not tan, no matter what Nicks says.

Satisfied with the Fit

Nice toe space, but not as much as expected, even at a width up. Low instep, which is GREAT for me. Moderate heel lock and arch. The last combined with a wedge sole is pretty darn comfortable. I really like the ThurmanNW last as an alternative to the high heels and narrow toes of typical PNW boots.

A lot of people say PNW boots are not finished well... Not the case here. These were borderline perfect. The last design is great, the finishing was spot on, and the durability is top notch. Give stars to Nicks.

The sole is incredibly comfortable for walking on concrete. The grip leaves a bit to be desired but that's to be expected. The sole is holding up well.

Final thoughts

Would Recommend

These were my first PNW boots and now I understand the hype. It's a uniquely American product. I would never have owned one if Nicks had not created the ThurmanNW last, and I have no regrets. These will be kicking about my place for years to come.
