I live in Arizona and work in a clinic indoors with children. I did a small garden project with them but mostly avoided wearing them for lawn work. I believe in honest patina and not running down the boots or shoes for the sake of it but showcasing the natural wear and tear of beautiful boots that are taken care of. Patina shoes look better and the honest quest of earning that wear is something that I take pride in.
The horse strips are incredibly durable. Their primary purpose wasn’t a heavy duty work boot but i most certainly did not baby them either. The leather never hurt during the break-in and it was far more comfortable than any other boot or shoes I’ve worn.
The fit is superb and I believe a key reason why they were so comfortable from the beginning. Dave told me to go true to size and I did and it worked out perfectly.
Literally everything about the Quade screams quality. Dave puts a lot of intention into every design aspect of his boots/derbies. The leather is clicked perfectly, the durability exceeds any other brand I’ve worn, the finishing was excellent, design simple yet elegant and everything top notch.
I got inspiration for my derby from the Redwing Postmans. So, I had to have the wedge sole. These have to be my favorite sole I have worn. I walked for hours on my feet on many days. On Halloween I remember my wife’s and every other adult we were with said their feet were killing them but mine felt very supported.
These boot shoes, or derbies or Quades, or whatever you wish to call them have been an absolute dream. Along every dimension I can think of they have punched above their weight. They were not cheap, but they are well worth their price. These were a great deal more versatile than any other boot I’ve worn. They could look great dressed down in denim, stylish dressed up with more formal attire and look good virtually anything else I wore. The exception is running/working out, that is what my brooks are for. Initially I thought that maybe they being black would be a limiting factor but in reality they proved to look great with black/ indigo, black, indigo, green, tan and all different denims and pants. So, if you’re on the fence about black Quades make that leap.
