Worn almost every day for the past 6 months. I’ve been trying to walk more to get in shape and most days I walked between 3 to 5 miles.
Being rough out they hide abrasions, nicks, and scratches very well. The indigo dye is meant to wear off and at first it is gradual and subtle, but accelerates with time. The break-in for the leather was practically non-existent. I found the soles to be more foot friendly than the Dainite style. For care I occasionally used a horse hair brush to remove dust and pollen. I was careful not to overdo this in order to avoid removing the indigo dye.
I’m a 10D bannock and the boots are 10D per their recommendation. On my foot they are overall a bit wide. At first there were not any issues, but as they wore in I find my foot still slides slightly against where the insole has formed to my foot which can occasionally start to blister. They can be alright if I wear my thickest socks, but with normal or thin socks I definitely slide around a bit. For a while I tried using tongue pads but eventually removed them. I wish I had tried these in 9.5 as I wonder if that would have been a better overall experience.
Everything about the construction seems excellent. No complaints there at all. I like that they do not have a pad under the dock liner, just the liner on the insole.
These seem much more comfortable than dainite type soles and leather soles to me. Overall I prefer a wedge though. But these are the most comfortable non-wedge I’ve tried. Even had surprising traction on ice. They do appear to wear faster than dainite types, but they are also a bit thicker so I’m not sure what difference in time they will last.
Beautiful boots with very nice leather,, but a last that is tough for me.
