I thought the Beaver Fur Kudu would Patina very nicely. I love the scarring and visual texture of the boots.
These are my second Parkhurst boot in 9D. Almost all of my other heritage style boots are also 9D. No modifications were made to the last.
It was the typical online ordering experience. I emailed Andrew and instructed him to pick out the most gnarly Beaver Fur Kudu in size 9D that he had in stock.
Since the dome started in October and ended in April, I have worn these boots in all Midwest weather conditions. I never really let the weather dictate when not to wear them.
I didn't really notice how much the kudu leather lightened with age until I looked at the old and new photos. They have also softened immensely. Not that they were stiff to begin with, but now they're almost like a leather jacket. I did not condition these at all, just brushing regularly with a horsehair brush, and a damp rag when dusty or dirty.
I have narrow, low volume feet. The 9D in the 602M last are comfortable and just about perfect with my preferred thick wool blend socks. Overall, great support and easy for daily wear.
This being my second Parkhurst boot, I knew coming in that these were going to be well built, nicely constructed and finished. I'm already looking to buy another pair.
I like the lug sole on these better than the dainite like sole on my Parkhurst Allen boots. The lug sole is more grippy, has better traction and feels better under foot comfort-wise. I'd like to try the Ridgeway style sole on my next Parkhurst.
I like them better than Dainite soles on my Allen boots.
Now that I've completed the dome, I'm ready to get these into my old rotation and maybe start looking for a new pair, probably another pair of Parkhurst! Great boots!
