From stiff starts to daily comfort—my month with Rhodes Bone Wedge Chelseas.

2Month Update: Rhodes Bone Wedge Chelsea Boots I received these boots on March 11. After a month, they’re now comfortable. I tried a thin leather/cork insole at first, but after a week I didn’t need it anymore. Around the two-week mark, the boots started making loud creaking noises. Because of that, I wore them more for walks than for commuting—most people would probably feel awkward with the noise in a quiet office. The leather over the instep has softened, so that’s no longer an issue. One problem remains: the lining still stains my socks. Otherwise, they’re breaking in well and feel good on foot. The Vibram Morflex sole is still lightweight and cushioned, which I appreciate for daily wear.

The black cow leather is deep and matte, with some texture and natural marks. It’s already showing a bit of character. The lining is tan and soft. The boots look classic and should age well.

I went with size 9.5D - Huckberry suggests going with the sneakersize. They’re snug at the ball of my foot but loose in the heel. They feel a bit long, which makes the uppers press into the top of my feet, especially on the left. Getting them on takes some effort, but the ankle fit is good and secure, which I like in a Chelsea.

The uppers and lining are LWG-certified cowhide. The midsole is leather. The outsole is Vibram Morflex, which is lightweight and has good grip. There are grosgrain pull tabs and double-gore elastic. The construction feels solid.

Overall, these are a solid pick if you want something casual but a bit different from your usual sneakers or boots. The price drop made it worth pulling the trigger despite shipping and import fees. Just be mindful of sizing—I'd size down and go wide next time. The leather and build quality are impressive, and they fit well into a casual office setting where style matters but comfort is key.
