Formal enough to wear to the office and casual enough to wear out with chinos. I wanted something cooler to wear in the Australian summer this Thunderdome and these shoes were perfect. They saw a lot of wear playing with my toddlers at parks and going for walks. Ended up travelling to Korea and Japan with them as well for a few weeks.
The leather looks great with patina and rolls nicely. It is thinner and more pliable than normal boot cow leather but feels plenty strong at least for my use. Only the vamp is lined so the shoe is very breathable and has black dye stains on the inside which don't bleed at all and give each shoe some unique character. For leather care I just brushed when it got dirty used mink oil once.
Bit of a weird one. Summary is it is much better with an insole. I am an 11D/E brannock with ai think a fairly standard arch and ended up getting a 10. The length feels right but I would have liked it to be a touch wider. There is a room in the toe box and the arch. Most of the dome I didn't use an insole but ended up getting arch pain when going on long walks. After getting an insole it was much more comfortable and filled out the shoe better.
Great craftsmanship all around except for one issue. The outside stitching pierced slightly into the outsole which cause the outside edge of the outsole to be weak and break off. I raised this with the rolling dub trio team and they offered to do a free sole replacement if I posted back to them since it was probably due to the outsole stitcher bring too tight. I ended up keeping them as is and just owning the worn look. Other than that the upper stitching is tight close and beautifully done. The clicking of the leather is great. The pinking and little details look awesome. I love the designs of all rolling dub trio.
Medium soft and grippy enough for urban wear at least. I wouldn't go on dirt tracks hiking or anything as there is no tread. Also there is no ice in Brisbane so have no idea how it would go on slippery surfaces. Seems to wear quicker then harder rubbers but gives good cushion and is comfortable. Has an interesting unique look to it
A bit harder than the sole and wears slower. Fairly standard comfortable rubber sole with light tread.
The main things I look for in shoes/boots are a great looking last, cool design and patina potential leather which rolling dubs have in spades. Japanese quality boots are not the cheapest but these ticked all the boxes of a shoe I can use and keep for a long time and still absolutely love wearing them.
