Why I own this

Style

I looked around for burgundy engineer boots which are obtainable for me and these came up after a lot of research. I knew the Thunderdome 23-24 was right up the corner and these would be a great contestant, so I bought them.

How I sized

Online Guide

I asked the owner of Sko Uno for guidance and he told me that 44 would be too small and 45 too large. After buying too small shoes/boots in prior years, I decided to go with size 45. I agree with him that 45 is a hair too big, but thick socks almost entirely fixed the problem.

Break-In
Color Change

Break-in was very forgiving. The boots darkened on the shaft and became more light on the vamp. Everyday brushing and two conditions throughout six months gave them a lovely shine to the expense of hiding bruises. My trousers/jeans' hem polished the straps which almost look burnished.

Satisfied with the Fit

The volume is almost contouring my foot, although the arch support could be greater. Strap length is good for the instep and my toes have plenty of room. Heel could be a little tighter. The shaft is a little loose fitting / big, but it does not bother me much. After six months, the removable insole could be replaced with something nicer. Comfort when walking long distances is not ideal.

Stitching

I love the design, although it could have a more shaped heel. Construction is solid, but when I received the boots, I noticed that the welt stitching to the upper was rough on the toes. I could see the stitch holes. Fortunately, it went away after the break-in.

Final thoughts

These pair of boots will stay in my collection as long as I live and I hope to wear them for a very, very long time.
