I love PNW boots and Wesco have always been my favorite. Their profile and look make them stand apart from the other brands. I have 4 pairs of Wescos and chose this pair because of the Maryam Brucioto - I think that they will patina beautifully. The lead time was 1 year and I got them just in time for the late entry period. Also, the people at Wesco are alwaya great to deal with. Love the old school approach to doing business.
I have about 15 pairs of boots. With guidance from Bakers, Nicks, and Chris at Wesco - plus plenty of sizing mistakes of my own over the years - I’ve finally dialed in my sizing for my favorite brands. I typically wear a 9E in Whites or Nicks. Chris helped over thr years with my Wesco sizing.
It was a custom order. I wanted the Axebreaker style without the brogue stitching. It took a year from order to delivery. I placed it directly with Chris and Kim at Wesco.
The style allowed me to wear them both as workwear boots and in the office when necessary, which increased my overall wear time. Besides daily use, took them on several overseas trips to Africa and a few hikes.
They were durable but also comfortable with minimal break in. After 2 weeks they felt perfect. The only sign of strain was that one pull loop ripped partially off. Aside from daily brushing I kept maintenance to a minimum.
The sizing was perfect however the toe box is quite low so I removed the insert. This resulted in less overall cushioning but not dramatically so. If I were to order them again I would opt for a soft toe. I much prefer the lowered lift on the Henriks. My Brannock is 10E and I ordered these in 10D.
IMHO, nobody beats Wesco when it comes to aesthetics. In a market packed with awesome brands, Wesco still stands out as unique. I've had several people ask me about these boots over the past six months. The construction is solid, but I've learned you can't expect every single stitch to be perfect - it's a handmade work boot, after all.
I like the low-profile, especially on the Henrik which is a little more "dressy" than other Wescos. After 6 months of consistent wear, I am nowhere near needing a resole. I've used them in extreme heat and cold and they have performed well in both conditions.
My preference for the Hendrik is a low profile sole and lowered heel - like the Axebreaker spec. Almost all my other boots have traditional heels.
Wesco was my favorite brand going into the Thunderdome and that has not changed. I'd recommend them to anyone. Good products and good people. Cheers!
