Mister Lou
Baker's Boots and Clothing
Engineers have long been a “I want to feel like a Star Wars bounty hunter and a motorcycle cowboy at the same time” boot goal. And these Mister Lous accomplished that with flying colors. They worked in a clinical setting as well as a hiking trail or a coffee shop, and I couldn’t be happier with how I never felt out of place throwing them on. I’m already eyeing a made to order pair with another maker, and I can’t wait to keep this train a rollin’.
Went with the often recommended half size down + 1 width up from Brannock and was served well. A little roomy at first but became very comfortable after a week of wears.
Fell right into my lap. Bakers had them in stock in my size a month before the dome and it was meant to be.
Daily or near it. Some rests but these went everywhere I did: work in a clinical environment to hiking some dirt and rocky trails with my dog to playing at the park with my son and all points in between. There were no limits. Roads? Where were going we don’t need roads. Just a solid pair of engiees on our feet.
It’s held a lot of shine from new but layered some texture and rolls as well as some nice tracore lighter browns coming out at the toes. Scuffs and scratches makes the shine look dignified and well traveled at the same time. Might not be the most beat up pair in the dome but I couldn’t be happier with them and with the roads yet to travel in them.
It’s true: they They run narrow. I’m 9D borderline C but the 8.5E fits well, comfortably able to go think or thick with socks to my liking. Roomier in the heel than the forefoot but nothing that did t break in in around a week to two.
They are great. Classic engineer design done well. Little to no frills because the OG doesn’t need them. Solid and rugged even if that means a stitch or two isn’t perfect. A great quality in this type of boot in my opinion. Too fancy and they start to feel like they’re for looking at instead of wearing hard.
No issues, o attention paid other than a couple take gravel out after a hike sessions. Served me well.
This year has been one of transformation. Still navigating a seperation from my wife as we both try to bring our family back together. These boots have been a companion and a witness to our journey, and I’m going to wear them at our recommitment ceremony if we are able to get there. We have a 2 year old son and I’ve found incredible strength and resolve this year for his sake. I’m going to wear these boots well and give them to him someday and it will complete a really beautiful circle of transformation and evolution of life.
