AB-RDT01 Casper

The collaboration marks Addict Clothes' first partnership with Rolling Dub Trio, bringing together two Japanese heritage footwear makers with complementary approaches to boot design and construction.

Addict Boots and Rolling Dub Trio joined to launch the Casper collaboration boots in 2021, basing the design on Rolling Dub Trio's classic Casper shoe style. The original Rolling Dub Trio Casper featured a rounder last configuration that created a fuller casual appearance.

For the collaborative AB-RDT01 model, Addict Clothes modified the last shape to a flatter and narrower toe profile, creating a more elegant appearance compared to the original rounder configuration. The collaboration replaced the original cork crepe outsole with a Vibram 269 sole, increasing heel height and extending the line of the instep.

The AB-RDT01 Casper features a one-piece upper design with minimal stitching and seaming, incorporating a side zipper on the inside for convenient entry and removal. The boots are constructed using Goodyear welt methods and manufactured in Japan. The modified last shape represents the primary design change from the original Rolling Dub Trio Casper, with the flatter and narrower toe providing a more refined silhouette.

The Vibram 269 outsole replaced Rolling Dub Trio's traditional cork sole in the collaborative design. This sole choice increases the overall heel height and modifies the boot's profile compared to the original Casper configuration.

The boots use 2.2mm steer-hide leather custom made by Addict Clothes, tanned and finished by a Japanese tannery. The leather employs tea core construction, featuring a brown core beneath the black surface that creates aging contrast as the boots develop patina through wear. The leather is described as having both solid feel and softness. The AB-RDT01 Casper is available in both Black and Brown colorways, with the model designation AB-RDT01-ST referring to the steerhide version. The boots use standard D width sizing.

The AB-RDT01 uses the ST last with Vibram 269 Westerner soles. The boots fit well for wearers without high insteps, featuring a low instep and small ankle opening. Addict Boots sizing generally aligns with Alden's Barrie last and Red Wing Iron Rangers. The recommended sizing is one size smaller than standard Brannock device measurements for customers without high insteps or wide feet. The boots use North American steerhide uppers with tea core construction, described as very thick and substantial.
