The Nomad Chelsea employs Goodyear welt construction, allowing the boot to be resoled by Allen Edmonds experts when needed. The boot features premium leather or suede uppers with leather lining throughout. Construction takes place in Port Washington, Wisconsin, following the company's traditional manufacturing processes while incorporating modern comfort elements.

The boot utilizes XL Extralight closed-cell foam outsoles that are waterproof, providing durability while maintaining the lightweight design philosophy of the Nomad collection. This outsole material differs from traditional leather or rubber soles found on other Allen Edmonds models.

The Nomad Chelsea is built on the #42 last, which combines the heel characteristics of Allen Edmonds' 65 last with a broad, almond-shaped modern toe shape. This last includes a 3mm footbed allowance specifically designed to accommodate the removable LightForm footbed featured throughout the Nomad collection.

The #42 last provides a relaxed fit that feels more like an E-width out of the box due to its generous proportions. This wider fit accommodates foot expansion during extended wear and allows for thicker socks, making the boot suitable for all-day comfort in casual settings.

The boot incorporates several comfort-focused technologies that distinguish it from traditional Allen Edmonds dress shoes. The removable LightForm footbed provides cushioning and can be replaced or customized as needed. Cork-infused foam insoles offer additional comfort while maintaining the traditional cork element found in Allen Edmonds footwear.
