The Charcoal Crazy Horse features blake stitch construction, a method where the upper is stitched directly to the insole and then to the outsole. This construction is known for its flexibility and sleek profile. Users have reported a minimal break-in period with this model.

Black Wing Shoes employs a custom fitting approach that begins with detailed foot measurements. Craftsmen then modify basic lasts by padding them with scraps of leather or rubber, sculpting the form to match exact foot dimensions. This bespoke process allows each pair to be tailored to the wearer's specific foot shape and requirements.

The boots use Crazy Horse leather, a pull-up effect latigo calfskin with a waxed finish. This leather type is produced on bovine skins, typically calf sides, and is characterized by its distressed vintage appearance with a distinctive two-tone effect. When the leather is bent or flexed, the surface brightens due to the wax treatment, creating a dynamic visual character that develops with wear.

The charcoal color variation offers a darker base tone while retaining the signature pull-up characteristics of Crazy Horse leather. The waxed finish provides some water resistance and develops a unique patina over time as the boots are worn and the wax redistributes across the surface.
