The Classic is a series of elastic-sided ankle boots manufactured by Blundstone. The Classic Series evolved from the Original 500 Series with enhanced comfort features including leather lining, additional heel cushioning, and a wider fit. The series features popular styles including the 550 and 585 models.
The Classic Series incorporates comfort technology including XRD Extreme Impact Protection in the heel strike zone and additional high-density foam cushioning. The boots feature a leather lining throughout the shaft for warmth and a TPU outsole that is 5 millimeters thicker than the Original 500 Series.
Classic Series boots feature a premium leather upper with a thickness of 2.5 millimeters. The leather is water-resistant, though the boots are not fully waterproof. Pull tabs on the heel and shaft facilitate easy on and off.
The sole construction consists of a durable TPU outsole that is 5 millimeters thicker than the Original 500 Series. The outsole features a chunkier profile with deeper contours designed to provide firmer grip on challenging terrain. A steel shank provides arch support and stability. The boots use cemented sole construction rather than Goodyear welt construction, making resoling more difficult.
The Classic Series incorporates a molded cushioning footbed with XRD Extreme Impact Protection technology in the heel strike zone. Additional high-density foam in the heel provides extra cushioning compared to the Original 500 Series. Each pair includes an extra set of footbeds to allow for customized fit adjustment.
The boots feature leather lining throughout the shaft, providing additional warmth and comfort compared to the unlined Original Series. Reinforced double stitching on the heel adds extra strength to the construction.
The Classic Series features a wider fit compared to the Original 500 Series, providing extra room in the toe box and increased toe height and width. The wider fit provides a more relaxed feel from the first wear, requiring less break-in time than the Original Series.
The Classic Series differs from the Original 500 Series in several key areas. While the Original features unlined leather construction, the Classic includes leather lining throughout the shaft. The Classic's TPU outsole measures 5 millimeters thicker than the Original's sole and includes additional high-density foam cushioning in the heel.
The Classic Series features a wider fit profile compared to the Original 500, providing more room throughout the boot. The Classic's molded cushioning footbed includes XRD technology not found in the Original Series. Both series use 2.5-millimeter thick premium leather uppers.
