Brandle is a footwear brand based in Spokane, Washington, established in 2023. The company produces boots that draw upon the bootmaking traditions of the Pacific Northwest.
Brandle was founded as a sub-brand of Nicks Handmade Boots, a company established in the early 1960s. The brand is named for the family of CEO Shuyler Mowe's wife. Her great-grandfather ran Brandle's Boot Emporium in Chillicothe, Ohio, during the late nineteenth century.
Brandle produces up to 20 pairs of boots each month. Production takes place at Nicks Handmade Boots, where the most experienced bootmakers assemble each pair. The manufacturing process includes an extended period on the last, which affects the boot's shape and reduces leather wrinkling.
Brandle constructs its boots using a single-row stitchdown technique, with a stitch density designed to create a smooth profile near the welt. Each pair is fully lined with calfskin leather. Materials for the boots are sourced from suppliers such as Wickett & Craig and JR Leather.
Brandle manufactures two models: the 1925, which is a dress boot with an almond-shaped toe, JR oak tan leather outsoles, and brass hardware, and the 1964, which is styled after Pacific Northwest logging boots and uses the same last as the 1925. The boots are offered in several leather types, including Wickett & Craig Double Stuffed, Gallun Calfskin, and limited Horween shell cordovan.
