Junkard Company was founded in 2010 by Tangguh and Hamzah. The founders began the business without investment from outside sources. The company’s early work focused on self-financed production.

Junkard Company uses handcraft methods in its manufacturing process. Production starts with leather selection and hand-cutting of patterns. Shoemakers assemble and shape the upper parts of the footwear by hand. The lasting process is carried out with manual tools. The company applies Goodyear hand-welted, Norwegian hand-welted, and stitchdown construction methods in its products.

The company uses Goodyear hand-welted construction in its footwear. This technique attaches the upper to the sole with a leather welt. Norwegian hand-welted methods are also used, involving a double-stitch technique. Stitchdown construction is performed by stitching the upper directly to the sole. The company uses full-grain leather, shell cordovan, and pull-up leathers as primary materials.

Junkard Company produces service boots, moc-toe work boots, lace-to-toe oxfords, penny loafers, and double monk chukka shoes. The company draws design elements from historical models, including military service boots. Junkard Company offers a made-to-order program, with options for customizing materials, styles, and lasts.
