Amara Hark-Weber Custom Model

Last year two of my mentors passed away unexpectedly. I started making these a few days after Janne died, and made them almost without thinking. It was only after that I realized how odd they were, and tried to figure out about them is so unusual. Then I realized: if my mentors had a boot baby, this pair would be it. I built them to suit my needs: quick to put on, working on a concrete floor, all weather, and easy to travel in. But after wearing and thinking about them for the last 6 months, I realize that building them through that emotional time made boots that are far more than just utilitarian.

This is one of the few times when I treated myself like a client. I made new measurements and fitted new lasts. I am so glad it did. The fit was exceptional; very curvy underfoot, plenty of toe room, a pop to pull on, but not so much that I got a hernia after wearing them 6 months the.

I made them for myself, and I can be a very difficult customer. But, going through all the steps was fun!
