I bought these as I wanted to try additional sizes in the Elton last. I’m between 9.5 and 10 on the Brannock and the general recommendation with Elton is to go 10. But with previous pairs in 20 over long term wear I’ve developed blistering due to how lose they fit. In this pair I tried 9.5, and while the fit is more firm than what many might like I feel they fit me much better and work better overall. Ideally I also wanted something in Chromeexcel Roughout with a wedge sole. At the time there wasn’t an exact match so I went for the Seidel leather with a wedge sole. I’ve discovered I prefer the 2060 wedge to the 4014 Christie. The 2060 feels better and so far has worn less then Christies I’ve owned in the past. I wanted roughout as I’m pretty bad about scuffing and scraping against things. The Christian leather by Seidel is tough and a bit more of a break-in process compared to others. Out of the box the finish looked great. As they’ve worn they end up looking a bit more haggard than other roughouts I’ve seen and worn. But being roughout a brass brush nearly makes them look like they did out of the box again. I mention all this as someone who wants the leather to look “nice” even if worn looking might not appreciate how this leather looks in that condition. For me they’ve been great and the look doesn’t bother me.
Based on previous purchases on the Elton last.
