Horween Black Waxed FleshThese are finally starting to lose some wax and show some wear. They will definitely take some action to get a patina judging by this first month.That's a good thing though because I'm planning more off road trips and hikes than ever to put them through their paces. These were a pretty tough break in, mostly around the ankle area and where the tounge folds. They are still quite stiff in those areas but they don't really hurt any more so its fine. The break in is still in progress. I hope they soften up a bit more and at least approach being comfortable in November. Hoping to see more progress this month now that the rough out is beginning to show through.

Why did you choose this item?
I have a pair of Java waxed flesh I bought used and I loved how they patina. I had a wanted a pair of Black waxed flesh after seeing a photo of them with an amazing contrasting patina. I wanted to start the patina process from new and see if I can achieve something like that photo.
How did you determine your size?
I take a size 8d in almost all the famous brand boots like Redwing, Alden, Grant Stone etc. So I bought a pair of Trumans in 8d and they were too small. So I sold those and bought my Javas in 8.5d and they fit perfectly. So thats how I found my size and purchased my open Dome pair in 8.5d
