Beautiful boot but I have been afraid to wear it for the last few years. Might condition it shortly after we start. Its been sitting in a box for too long.Use & wear
Mostly non-wet activities. Was caught in the rain in japan and it was a problem. Felt like the leather sole was eroding. Its great everywhere else. Especially business environments.
Leather
It cracked at the top eyelet. Sad. No particular care routine except once after a huge downpour in japan. Break-in non-existent. Color change seemed to go from pure caramel to more mottled muted brown. I like it. Versatile.
Fit
I could probably do slightly longer. This was bought before when I was sizing too far down. Overall fit is okay. These are a 10 a/c and given my narrow foot and 11bish htb, the width and arch is relatively good. I can wear most socks and no huge problems but would go for a but more length
Craftsmanship
Welt is not the best. Everywhere else is pretty clean. Construction feels solid though. All around, Alden design is still a top dog for me--classic American.
Sole & heel
Seems ok durability-wise as long as its not in the rain.
It's okay.
Final thoughts
Sad about crack but honestly can't beat the variety of Alden lasts and classic designs. Will wear for many years to come.
