I chose engineer boots because my work conditions often require me to use a motorbike, if I have to get caught in the rain during the trip, I don't need to hesitate and can continue to use these engineer boots because they are waterproof and water-resistant when it rains!
I use Batu Last size 42 which is slightly modified to fit my foot shape. I don't have to worry about sizing because my feet are directly measured by the owner of Briselblack, Mr. Adi. Mr. Adi is also very easy to consult and work with. So this Batu Last is very comfortable to wear! Compared to Ben-01 Last in my Jodhpur Briselblack, Batu Last is much roomier in the toe area, creating deeper rolls!
I contacted Briselblack Bootmaker (Mr. Adi) and made an appointment for a store visit to Bandung (I live in Jakarta). Mr. Adi is very good at communicating online and offline, making it very easy for customers to order shoes at Briselblack. Doing a store visit allowed me to see a lot of boots made by Briselblack! When my engineer boots were finished, Mr. Adi brought them from Bandung to Jakarta and we met for coffee together and talked a lot about boots!
I wear my boots every day during the competition. I need to wear boots because the weather is very unpredictable in Indonesia, because my job requires me to move to 2 to 3 places every day, so wearing boots is the right choice because when it rains I don't have to worry. On the weekend I still wear these boots because they are very comfortable to wear and engineer boots are very easy to wear.
I absolutely love the leather on these boots because they are so comfortable from the moment I put them on! They don't bruise my feet and are very flexible. This toecanello overdyed also changes color very quickly, from dark to light because the base color of this leather is toscanello and overdyed to oxblood, so when it wears off the base color of the toscanello becomes clearly visible. This toscanello leather also very tough and has strong durability in all kinds of unpredictable weather conditions. I found this leather requires zero break-in time, as it's been incredibly comfortable from the moment I put it on. I only treated my boots once, two months before the competition, with leather conditioner, and brushed them every two weeks using a horsehair brush.
These boots are very comfortable, although the toe box is a little roomy, it doesn't compromise on support or comfort. The slightly roomy toe box also creates a "rolls patina" that I really like.
I really like engineer boots, in my opinion the engineer boots from Briselblack Bootmaker offer a balanced design between rugged and refined. The goodyear welted construction of these boots is also very neat and very durable when worn. The neat finishing and the choice of horsebutt leather with perfect clicking, because there are almost no visible creases on my boots, only rolls are visible.
These Dr. Sole full soles offer incredibly grippy performance, making it easy for me to carry out activities in all weather conditions. They're non-slip in the rain and can be worn anywhere. Also really like the minimalism design
These Dr. Sole cork heels offer incredibly grippy performance, making it easy for me to carry out activities in all weather conditions. They're non-slip in the rain and can be worn anywhere. Also really like the studded design
In my opinion, Briselblack Bootmaker is one of the best Indonesian bootmakers. With a wide selection of leathers, from domestic to overseas tanneries, excellent construction quality, and eye-catching boot designs and patterns! Excellent service, and very easy communication with the bootmaker. I easily recommend Briselblack Bootmaker.
